Traditionally, batch processes are found in a variety of chemical, pharmaceutical, dyes-intermediates, paints, fine chemicals, speciality chemicals and other chemical industry.

Design of batch process plants differs from continuously operating processes in several aspects. Knowledge in these aspects helps a lot in optimizing the batch plants which are otherwise a lot more energy efficient against their continuous plant counterparts.

The course broadly covers the following topics specific to the batch processes.

• Material and Heat Balance

• Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) development

• Basics of pipe selection and of mechanical design of equipment

• Line sizing for various services

• Determination of capacity of batch processes

• Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development

• Instrumentation and process control

• Selection, sizing and specifications of various process equipment involved in batch processes

• Introduction to the contents of Basic Engineering Package (BEP)

• Sizing of various utility systems and selection

• Vacuum systems

• Hazardous area classification

• Process Safeguarding

Duration: 18 Working days (Except Saturday/Sunday/Public Holidays)  10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please check with us on the minimum batch strength required.
