The objective of this course is to cover the best of the two worlds, viz. Process Engineering and Piping Engineering. This would surely help the practising mechanical engineers in the field of piping engineering and others in the long run.
Process Engineering
-
Analysis of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
-
Line sizing for various services
-
Selection, sizing and specifications of pumps
-
Sizing of control valves, restriction orifice plates, pressure relief devices
-
Introduction to HAZOP review and to hazardous area classification
Please advise if you want to cover some other topics in Process
Engineering Design as part of this course.
Piping Engineering
-
Materials of construction and corrosion
-
Piping design systems and codes
-
Piping layout engineering
-
Piping design considerations w.r.t. different types of processes and services
-
Inline instruments hook-up
-
Pipe supports
-
Stress
analysis
-
Statutory regulations and safety aspects
-
Fabrication
-
Testing and installation
-
Costing
Students are provided
with hands on training on suitable 2D and 3D softwares.
The topics in Process Engineering in this course are covered essentially for interfaces with Mechanical Engineering.
It may be noticed that the topics in this course for piping engineering are essentially same as the Course
PPE-01. In the Course PPE-02, these topics are covered to the extent that the expertise gained is adequate to move ahead with piping engineering. In return, the students benefit from the knowledge gained in a lot of Process Engineering topics as mentioned above so that they are no longer
only 'mechanical' engineers. This course is also useful for Mechanical Engineers, who want to lead their career in engineering of various package systems such as refrigeration, compressed air, fuel gas system, boilers and rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors and turbines.
Entire training is carried out based on actual industrial assignments. Students will be occupied with a lot of home assignments to be completed over the week-ends.
Duration: 35 Working days (Except Saturday / Sunday / Public Holidays)
10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Joining schedule: One can join at any mutually convenient time.
Course fee: Fee for Indian students is Rs.
59,500.
Who can join? Degree or Diploma holders in
Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
Placement Assistance:
Being involved in
engineering activities ourselves, we can provide active placement support even after completion of the
this course.
