Save the Mother Earth from Waste Plastic Menace! ........ And Get Rewarded in Return!

Convert Waste Plastic into a Valuable Resource!

In the modern times, life without plastic cannot be imagined. However, since plastic does not get degraded naturally, its disposal has become a major issue, in both rural and urban areas alike. Not all types of plastics can be reused, nor the ones that can be reused can be recycled repeatedly due to associated practical problems. Also, there are problems of contamination affecting the quality of the product manufactured from such recycled plastics.

We at Atharva ProcTek have developed unique means to dispose any type of waste plastic by converting it into a valuable gas or liquid fuel. The process developed by Atharva ProcTek based on First Principles for this is a very compact, sturdy and environment friendly process. This process operates at near atmospheric pressure and is safe to operate. It can be custom designed based on the type and volumes of plastic materials that are to be handled, on desired manpower & automation and client’s budgetary needs. The FuelPlast™ process is self-sufficient in nature and is a net exporter of energy giving decent monetary returns. It is therefore no longer a mere conventional kabadi (rag pickers') business to deal with waste plastic.

As a rule of thumb, the process produces about one litre of hydrocarbon liquid from one kilogram of waste plastic. The liquid yield depends on the type of plastic, the operating conditions selected and the type of catalyst. The process produces residue to the tune of 3 to 5% (by weight) of waste plastics. The residue is rich in carbon and can be safely used as solid fuel or can be incinerated. The rest of the plastic is converted into gas. At the commercial scale of operation, the gas will be used for heating the process equipment.

In addition to waste plastic, the process can also handle a variety of biomass, paper and hospital waste; thus accounting for most municipal waste constituents.

The process has several energy conservation measures apart from utilizing the produced gas for heating the process equipment as mentioned above. The catalyst used in the process offers significantly long life; hence reducing its make-up quantities.

What is more, we can test your specific waste plastics samples in our Demo Plant. This helps you in knowing what type of liquid hydrocarbon fuel you can expect and at what liquid yield.

With Atharva ProcTek, Waste Plastic is no longer scrap, it is a Valuable Resource.

Who can benefit from FuelPlast™ technology?                                                            Top

  • Municipal bodies which have a mammoth task of waste management

  • Industries which generate plastic waste due to off-spec products

  • Industries who spend fortune on fuels such as LDO and FO can set up infrastructure for purchasing the waste plastic either from rag pickers from authorized waste plastic importers

  • Entrepreneurs who can buy the waste plastic from rag pickers (kabadis)

  • Traders or industries that have license to import the waste plastic from abroad have distinct advantage that they save significantly on the cost of plastic compacting/ flaking/ granulation

  • The areas that face power crunch can also hugely benefit from the cheap electricity that can be generated from the fuel from FuelPlastTM  technology.

  • Waste plastic is an important constituent of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) management. Industries involved in WEEE can greatly benefit on the plastic part of the total waste.

Irrespective of which category from the above one belongs to, one can always be sure of the cheap fuel from our FuelPlast™ technology.

What we at Atharva ProcTek can do for you?                                                               Top

  • If you belong to an industry that generates plastic waste that cannot be recycled back within the plant due to quality assurance or any other consideration(s), and if you have no other option but to sell this waste as scrap, we can supply a plant that will convert this waste into a good quality industrial fuel. Although we have tried almost all waste plastic types successfully, we can arrange to process your specific waste plastic materials in our set-up for you to witness the kind of fuel you can expect from it. We can conduct such trials at a very nominal charge. We only require about five kilogram of the waste sample and we can conduct two trials to show you reproducible results. Upon satisfactory results from the test, we can assist you in plant capacity determination, design, procurement, installation, commissioning and also in operational support.

  • If you are an energy intensive industry with huge fuel bills, we can supply you a FuelPlastTM plant. You will be able to substitute your present fuel with the FuelPlastTM generated at a cost much lower than your presently used fuel thus resulting in huge savings on your fuel bills. You could either use waste plastic generated in your area for this purpose or imported plastic scrap as raw materials for such plant. Either way, we can assure you that the FuelPlastTM  would be significantly cheaper than your present fuel.

  • If you do not belong to the either of the categories mentioned above and still want to reap the benefits of the FuelPlastTM technology, you can go for a full-fledged commercial scale plant for producing industrial fuel from waste plastic either from your surrounding areas or from the imported plastic scrap. Imported plastic scrap although slightly more expensive than the local one can result in significant savings in the plant cost. As mentioned earlier, the fuel thus produced would still be cheaper than any industrial fuel that is available in the market.

  • If you do not wish to stop at production of industrial fuel and intend to aim for production of automobile fuels such as gasoline (petrol) and diesel, we can also help you.

  • Atharva ProcTek can supply plants in a wide capacity range; be it a few tonnes of plastic per day or tens of tons per day of plastic. For smaller capacities, we can offer batch plants. So whatever the waste plastic handling capacity you have in mind, we have the solution.

  • If you are looking forward to acquire the process know-how for yourself and/or for your region , we could discuss that too.

How does FuelPlastTM  economics work out?                                                            Top

For Indian conditions, we expect a payback period of less than two years for a full-fledged plant meant for commercial production of industrial fuel. The potential for reduction in this period would greatly depend on land cost. We can evaluate the payback period for our overseas customers. For other applications, as mentioned earlier, the benefit lies in the savings on fuel bills as well as in consuming the plant's own plastic waste and in situ generation of fuel  that is more valuable than selling it as scrap.

Whatever the application of FuelPlastTM  technology, one can also attempt to get the benefit of carbon credit on account of 1) Elimination of  the plastic waste to the extent of the plant capacity  and  2) Reduction in dependence on fossil fuels to satisfy one's fuel requirements.

What types of plastics can FuelPlastTM handle?                                                       Top

We have successfully handled ALL types of plastics and our commercial scale design of the plant can also take ensure zero emissions from the plant. The range of plastic materials tested by us covers  plastic carry bags to PET bottles to PVC toys to computer key-boards to polycoated milk or juice cartons. The non-hydrocarbon content of the plastics such as PVC; however; affects the hydrocarbon fuel yield. As mentioned earlier, we always encourage our customers to get the their plastic waste samples tested at our demo set-up prior to arriving at the achievable fuel generation capacity.
